ACCUPLACER Placement Test
Academic advisors and counselors at your college or technical school use your ACCUPLACER test results to help place you in classes that match your skill level. ACCUPLACER tests help identify your knowledge, strength, and needs in math, reading, and writing. Along with information about your academic background, goals, and interests, your ACCUPLACER results help you choose courses that match your skill level and give you the best opportunities for success.
All ACCUPLACER tests use a multiple-choice format. There’s no time limit on the tests, so you can focus on doing your best to demonstrate your skills.
ACCUPLACER uses the latest computer-adaptive technology and the questions you see are based on your skill level. Your response to each question drives the difficulty level of the next question so it’s important to give each question as much thought as you can before selecting your answer.
- The use of handheld calculators is not allowed on any computer-based ACCUPLACER Math placement tests. Questions that are configured to allow for the use of a calculator will present a calculator icon in the top right corner of the screen.
- No one passes or fails ACCUPLACER tests, but it’s important to complete the test using your best effort, so you and your college have an accurate measure of your academic skills.
No Time Limit
Multiple-choice ACCUPLACER tests are untimed, so you work at a pace that’s comfortable for you.
