A Word about Software Downloads

Unfortunately, many sites on the Internet offer free downloads of legitimate software that have been bundled with adware, spyware, viruses and other types of malware. Be especially wary of any free software which purports to speed up or clean your computer. The links below are to legitimate sources of free software and viewers for documents commonly used in UA Rich Mountain courses.

Microsoft Office and Office365

All actively enrolled students have access to Microsoft Office365 for free. Office365 includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. A student’s Office 365 access is set up automatically within 30 minutes of their UA Rich Mountain student account/email activation. After leaving UA Rich Mountain, students can maintain their Office 365 access, if desired, by purchasing a subscription directly from Microsoft.

Accessing your Office 365 account:

Your Office 365 account credentials are your student email address (the one ending with @stumail.uarichmountain.edu) and your current UA Rich Mountain account password. Any time your UA Rich Mountain password changes this password will change along with it.

Installing Office 365 on your devices:

If you have a Mac or Windows PC, you can download your software by signing in to your Office 365 account at the Microsoft Office Website and downloading the installer. For step by step directions, please view "Instructions to get office 365."

If you have a Chromebook, you will need to individually install the app for each Office program you need using the Google Play store. Please note that not all Chromebook models are compatible with Office 365 (most newer models are). If you are unable to install the apps via the Google Play store, your Chromebook may not be compatible.

If you have trouble installing the software or accessing your account, request IT assistance by contacting IT Services.
